Bessie Elladean Mitchell, age 75, of Patriot, died Wednesday evening May 11, 2005 at her residence. Born January 27, 1930 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Elva J. Straight and the late Sadie Blanche Tedder Straight Shaver. In addition to her parents she was preceded by a sister Virginia Ages Brumfield, by a brother Billy Straight, by an infant sister, by niece Rhonda Straight, and by a nephew Joe Jenkins.
Elladean was a homemaker and attended Flag Springs Church. She loved her flowers and her animals and was a second mother to everyone. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by: Husband: Paul V. Mitchell; 3 Sisters: Polly Jenkins of Chesapeake, Lawana (Brian) Bostic of Patriot and Sherry (Eldon) Paugh of Milton, WV; 1 Brother: Ronnie (Rosalee) Straight of Oak Hill; 13 Nieces and Nephews; 16 Great Nieces and Nephews; and 3 Great Great Nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday May 14, 2005 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home. Burial will follow in Flag Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.
