1941 - 2005

Dan R. Morgan, age 64, of Rio Grande, passed away Thursday morning May 26, 2005 at Holzer Medical Center. Born April 3, 1941 in Gallia County (Cora Community) he was the son of the late John R. and Anna Mae Evans Morgan.

Dan retired as a crew supervisor for American Electric Power Co. in 2001, after 37 years of service. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. He also served on the Board of Public Affairs in Rio Grande, was a 35 year Veteran of the Rio Grande Fire Department, and was a member of the Rio Grande Memorial Association.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda Roberts Morgan, whom he married on June 11, 1967 in Gallipolis; 2 Children: Susan Morgan of Gallipolis and Danny Morgan of Rio Grande; 2 Grandchildren: Jacob and Illyssa Saunders; 2 Brothers: Earl G. 'Mickey' (Sharon) Morgan of Rio Grande, and David J. (Helenlu) Morgan of Rio Grande; 1 Sister: Jane Ann (Edward) Slagle of Gallipolis.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday May 28, 2005 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home in Gallipolis with the Rev. Heath Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Tyn Rhos Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 P.M. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations. Pallbearers will be: Rodney Morgan, Chris Slagle, Scott Morgan, Tom Morgan, Randy Toberts, and Michael Roberts. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
