Fred Harlan Haffelt, age 88, of Gallipolis, died Wednesday December 25, 2002 at Holzer Senior Care Center. Born August 11, 1914 in Gallia County, he was the son of the late John and Rosie Eblin Haffelt. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife Mary Elizabeth Stegar Haffelt, by 2 Sisters; Edna Wickline, and Mildred Haffelt, and by 1 brother Marabel Haffelt.
Fred was a graduate of Mercerville High School. He retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center in 1975 after 36 years of service.
He is survived by 1 Daughter: Dorothy Jean (Irvin) Crabtree of Gallipolis, 1 Grandson: Keith (Kay) Mayo of Gallipolis, 2 Step Granddaughters: Donna Martin and Linda Borden both of Gallipolis, 5 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. 2 Sisters: Darlene Woodyard and Audrey Altizer both of Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday December 30, 2002 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Nick Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-9 PM. Condolences can be sent to the family at whw@timeformemory.com
