Ruby Crawford Spurlock, 78, of Ashland, KY passed away September 14, 2005 at Community Center in Ashland. She was a life long resident of the Tri-State area. She was born May 21, 1927 in Mount Sterling, KY, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jefferson of Waterloo, OH and graduated from Waterloo High School in Lawrence County, OH in 1946.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Lander Spurlock, and one brother, Jefferson Davis Swango II. She is survivied by one brother, George Jefferson Swango (JoAnn) of Beaver, OH, and three children, Nancy(David)Mullins of Columbia, SC, Richard (Julie) Spurlock of Hurricane, WV, and Robert (Liz) Spurlock of Ashland, KY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, and eight great grand children, David (Leah) Mullins II of Pooler, Georgia, Christopher (Amy) Mullins of Guyton, Georgia, Elizabeth Byrd of Columbia, SC, Bryan (Deborah) Spurlock of Hurricane, WV, Heather Spurlock of Charleston, WV, and Emily, Clint, and Landrea Spurlock of Ashland, KY. Her great-grandchildren include Savannah, Sarah, and David III Mullins of Pooler, Georgia, Nicholas, Tyler, and Kristin Mullins of Guyton, Georgia, and Timothy Byrd of Columbia, SC.
Ruby was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, grandmother and will be missed greatly by her family.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Monday at Waugh-Halley-Wood at 810 Second Ave. Gallipolis, OH. Burial will follow at Mound Hill cemetery in Gallipolis, OH. Friends may call from 5-8 pm on Sunday evening. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be mad to the charity of your choice in Ruby's memory.
