Mr. Ronald Dewey Carr, born January 26, 1940, died Wednesday February 22, 2006 following an extended illness, surrounded by family in his home at 900 Third Avenue. A 1958 Graduate of Gallia Academy and an honored US Army Veteran, he entered the medical profession and then went on to retire as a machine operator from AT&T in Columbus, before returning to Gallipolis in 1997.
He is preceded in death by has Grandmother Ruth Brown, his parents Hazel and Jack Carr and his brother William “Billy” Carr. He is survived, and will be deeply missed, by his sisters Jackie Carr Jenkins, of Columbus, Alice Carr Trent, of Dayton, Julia Carr Qualls, of Middleport, his uncle Dana Fields, of Masseyville, and his aunt Evelyn Fields, of Gallipolis.
He also leaves behind a host of family, including cousins, 10 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews and 13 great-great nieces and nephews, his beloved godchildren Danny Brown and Kimykoi Riley, both of Columbus and his cherished extended family, Ms. Dawne Borden and her family and Mr. Donald Borden, all from Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Saturday February 25, 2006 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home 810 2nd. Ave. Gallipolis. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 PM.
Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations.
