1921 - 2006

Alyce N. Hoffman, age 85, of Gallipolis, passed away on Friday April 14, 2006 at Holzer Medical Center. Born January 24, 1921 in Mason County, WV. She was the youngest daughter of the late Andrew F. and Lula Lanthorn Henry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband William H. Hoffman Jr. in 1980. Also preceding her are 2 brothers, Marion A. and Lewis E. Henry, 2 sisters, Lucille M. Pearson, and Mai L. Moodespaugh and by a great grandson Ryan Conner Murphy.

She became a Christian in her younger years, and was a member of The First Baptist Church.

She was a homemaker and mother of 6 children, who survive her,

Karen S. (Benjamin) Smith of Hilton Head, SC.

Joyce L. (Bernard) Murphy of Marietta

Jack H. (Linda) Hoffman of Fairborn

William L. (Carolyn) Hoffman of Athens

Kevin (Linda) Hoffman of Gallipolis

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren:

Elizabeth (David) Squire of Portland, OR

Matthew (Sylvia) Lauener of Chicago

Eric (Renee) Murphy of Matthews, NC.

Stancy (Joel) Griffin of Texas

Benjamin Smith II of Chicago

Bradley (Amanda) Murphy of Columbus

Joshua Lauener of Hilton Head SC.

Jackie (Scott) Bishop of New Jersey

Lindsay Hoffman of Athens

Kayla Hoffman of Gallipolis

12 great grandchildren

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Tuesday April 18, 2006 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church on Tuesday from noon until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church in her memory.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I know that she will greatly missed. It brings back old memories when you all lived on lower end of Gallipolis and also on State Street. More years ago than I like to admit .... Take care - Love - KAY (Sandy to some relatives)
