Hollis Lee Brumfield, 71, of Batavia, Ohio, died May 8, 2006 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash.
He was a member of the United States Air Forc who served in the Strategic Air Command and Air Police. He was a mechanic and welder by trade. Hollis was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, camping, children, and grandchildren.
He was born December 24, 1934 in Gallia County the son of the late Esco T. Brumfield and Cornelia I. Bevan Brumfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Rita Brumfield, a brother and sister in law Eugene Brumfield and his wife Barbara and 1 grandchild.
Mr. Brumfield is survived by a faithful companion Louise Wernke; 3 Daughters and one Son in law: Susie Costlow of Columbus, Monica (Don) Rich of Georgetown, and Tressied Brumfield of Georgetown; 5 Sons and 3 Daughter in laws: Hollis (Peggy) Brumfield Jr. of Louisville, KY, Larry Brumfield of Georgetown, Tom (Cindy) Brumfield of Mt. Orab, Jack (Toyna) Brumfield of Georgetown, and Floyd Brumfield of Amelia; 3 Sisters and 2 Brother in laws: Alice (Donald) Gillenwater, Janet (Angelo) D'Amico, and Phyllis Brumfield; 7 Brothers and Sister in laws: Donavan (Mary Jane) Brumfield, Wendell (Karen) Brumfield, Raymond (Paula) Brumfield, Irvin (Glenda) Brumfield, Ivan (Roxie) Brumfield, Terry (Vickie) Brumfield, Jeff (Linda) Brumfield; 21 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; and many Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday May 12, 2006 at Elizabeth Chapel Church, with Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Funeral Home 810 Second Ave., Gallipolis, Ohio on Thursday from 6-9 PM and at the Church on Friday one hour prior to services. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail. Memomrial contributions can be made to the Hospice of Cincinnati.
