1917 - 2007

Hazel Jane Edgington, age 89, of Gallipolis, died Tuesday evening February 20, 2007 at Holzer Medical Center. Born December 20, 1917 in Manchester, Ohio she was the daughter of the late William and Blanche Scott Henderson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Edson D. Edgington, who she married on December 13, 1935 and who preceded her on June 4, 1979, also preceding her is a sister, Beatrice Woodman.

Hazel was a retired employee of Thomas Clothiers, retiring after 33 years of service. She was an over 50 year member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grace Guild, and the Abigail Circle. She was also active for many years in Bridge Club, and was a former member of the Garden Club.

She is survived by:

2 Sons: William ‘Bill’ (Diane) Edgington of Lawrenceburg, KY.

Ron (Joyce) Edgington of Gallipolis

6 Grandchildren: Richard (Cindy) Edgington of Salida, CO., John (LaDonna) Edgington of McKinney, TX., William (Vicki) Edgington of Colleyville, TX., Deborah Rutherford of Brooksville, FL., Dana (Kevan) Richardson of Gainesville, GA., Neil Edgington of Aventura, FL.

11 Great Grandchildren

1 Sister in law: Geraldine Tranum of West Union, OH.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Saturday February 24, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church, with Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home 810 Second Ave. Gallipolis on Friday from 5-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 600 Second Ave. Gallipolis, Ohio 45631 in Hazel’s memory.

To Bill, Ron and family, My sincere condolences. Hazel was a good neighbor of mine for many,many years. She was a great lady, a good friend, and will be deeply missed.... She was so proud of you all.
