Missionary Margaret Elner Hardgrow Armstrong , age 88, of Crown City died Thursday evening March 1, 2007 at her residence. Born November 15, 1918 in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Hight Armstrong. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Earl William Armstrong, and by an infant son, Richard, daughter Ellen Armstrong Morgan, brothers, Nathaniel, Clyde, Blanchard, and John Hardgrow and sister, Ruth Hardgrow.

She is survived by:

11 Children: Clarissa (William) Saunders –Minor of San Bernardino, CA., Earl (Bonnie) Armstrong of Bellevue, Nebraska, Stanford (Juanita) Armstrong of Atlanta, GA., Robert (Patricia) Armstrong of Crown City, Gene (Elaine) Armstrong of Bidwell, Gerald (Sue) Armstrong of Ellenwood, GA., Mary Armstrong Lee, of Harrisburg, PA., David (Nattie) Armstrong of Chino Hills, CA., Mariam (Lawyer) Pendleton of Detroit, MI., Lana (Edmond) McKoy, of Crown City, Samuel (Mary) Armstrong of Bidwell,.

Also surviving is a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

Margaret was a devoted servant of God and especially known for the foundation of Gospel Truth Walk in the Light Mission, and Camp Reliable Bible Camp. Through Camp Reliable, Missionary Armstrong touched the lives of many youths throughout the country, many of whom now serve pastors, teachers, and evangelists and the work of the Lord. As a vital member of the community, Margaret served many years as a volunteer at Holzer Hospital and the Gallipolis State Institute. Her hobbies included, Fishing, Jogging, and Cosmetology. Her enjoyment of cosmetology led to her owning and operating Gallipolis’ first black owned business on Second Ave., Margaret Hair Styles. However, the love of her life was sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Wednesday March 7, 2007 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 AM. Until the time of service.

To the Family of Mrs. Margaret Armstrong, May God continue to bless, comfort and keep you during this time of loss. We are witness to your Mother's life spent in service to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Your Mother's kindness and caring for Jerry and Kim will never be forgotten. God's love was ever present in her actions. While you will miss her earthly presence, know that heaven is much richer today because she has enter into eternal life with her Lord and Saviour. God has called home a Good and Faithful servant for a job well done. Know that we will keep you all in our prayers.
