W. Faye Rees, age 95 of Gallipolis, died Friday morning February 15, 2008 at Holzer Assisted Living in Gallipolis. Born July 21, 1912 in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Mary Danner Houck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Paul C. Rees in 1990, and by 8 brothers, and 5 sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Paul E. Rees of Dayton, Ohio and Gene (Janet) Rees of Bidwell, two grandsons, Nick (Lynn) Rees of Westerville, Ohio, and Todd (Sharon) Rees of Williamsburg, Virginia. Two Great Grandsons, Sam and Levi Rees of Williamsburg, Virginia.
Faye was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and the Abigail Circle. She was also a member of Gallipolis Chapter Eastern Star and the White Shrine.
Faye will be remembered by many for the bakery she operated in her home from 1941 until she was in her late 80s. Many marriages started with her wedding cakes and many holidays were celebrated with her pies and cakes.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Tuesday February 19, 2008 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 PM.
Pallbearers will be: Nick, Todd, Sam and Levi Rees, Charles Baker, Steve Carter, and Larry Rees.
