Sarah J. Halley, age 90, passed away Monday evening February 10, 2003 at Harborside Healthcare of New Lebanon, after a long and blessed life. Sarah was originally from Southern Ohio, (The Crown City Community) but had lived in Brookville for several years before going to Harborside.
Sarah was born on May 2, 1912 in Gallia County to the late Albert and Miria Waterson Gooldin, she was one of eight children, and has one surviving sister Marjorie Green of Crown City. She was one of the original members of Kings Chapel Church and was always active in church wherever she lived.
She was preceded in death by her husband James B. Halley, an infant son Forrest, and infant daughter Mary Gladys, granddaughter Jane Elizabeth Halley, and daughter in law Phyllis Jean Halley.
Survivors include sons and daughters in law: James E. and Martha Gooldin of Mt. Sterling, Butler and Geraldine Halley, and Lee Halley of Brookville; Daughters and sons in law: Jennie Grace and JR Call of Brookville, Joy and Donald Gibson of Dayton, and Kathy and Jim Pitcox of Lewisburg; 11 Grandchildren, and 23 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews, and so many friends that were an important part of her life.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday February 14, 2003 at Kings Chapel Church, with Pastor Jack Rankin officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Crown City, OH.
Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home 810 Second Ave. Gallipolis on Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. and at the church on Friday one hour prior to services.
