Donald  SturgillDonald B. Sturgill, 62, of Grayson, KY, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 27, 2003, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Don was born July 21, 1941 in Grahn, KY, a son of Charlie Andrew and Bethel Brown Sturgill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Alcus and Kenneth Wade Sturgill.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Davis Sturgill, one daughter, Angela Dawn Ramey and her husband, Vernon Ramey and a granddaughter, Whitney Dawn Ramey all of Grayson.

Additional survivors include six sisters: Eloise Vowels of Louisville, KY, Vandetta Cox, Linda Valandingham and Treva Barker all of Olive Hill, KY, and Martine James and Susie Parker both of Grahn.

He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Don was baptized in September and loved to go to the Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

He was a graduate of Olive Hill High School and was retired from General Refractories at Hitchins, KY, where he worked for 35 years. He held various positions with his local union including President.

He was an avid outdoorsman and a past member of the Lunker Hunters Bass Club and the Trophy Hunters Archery Club. He enjoyed woodworking and supporting local basketball teams.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 30th, at 2:00pm at the Malone Funeral Home by Bro. Jimmy Barker. Burial will be in the Biggs Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 5-9pm at the funeral home.

Loretta, you and Don were good neighbors to me for many years. I will always be thankful for Don taking such an interest in Ben. He talked to him sports and taught him how to use a bow and arrow. When Ben was about 14 years old Don gave him a bow and arrow. Ben was so proud of that thing and still has it. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Barb and family.

Angie, I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing... He was a very nice gentleman... I poured him a many of cups of coffee at the "Shang-ri-La" (many years ago)! Just wanted you to know, you're in my prayers.
