1918 - 2004

Mable P. Johnson, 85, of Vero Beach, Florida died May 17, 2004 at her residence after a prolonged illness.

She was born October 21, 1918 in Grayson, Kentucky and moved to Vero Beach in 1981 from her birthplace following her retirement from National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), Grayson, Kentucky.

She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II where she served as a Hospital Apprentice First Class at the USN Hospital, Bethesda, MD and also as a clerk at the War Department, Washington, D.C.

She was a member of the Vero Christian Church and a former member of Grayson Chapter 10 Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Gerry Waite of Vero Beach, Florida, two sons, C.J. and Timothy Johnson, both of Grayson, one sister Margaret Ashlock of Corpus Christi, Texas, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held at Malone Funeral Home, 325 Malone Lane on Thursday, July 8, 2004 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.
