Lura Ann Baker, 57, of Avon Park, Fla., formerly of Grayson, Ky., died Sunday at her residence following a sudden illness.
She was born Oct. 9, 1945, in San Jose, Costa Rica, a daughter of Odes and Katherine Waggoner Slone.
She was in the Child Protective Services for the state of California and Washington where she retired.
She was a member of the Greater Grace World Outreach in Baltimore, Md.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Maude Ruth Fraley.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny L. Baker of Avon Park; two sons, John Kenneth Baker and David Odes Baker, both of Grayson; two daughters, Deanna Barnes and Brandia Ratliff, both of Morehead, Ky.; a sister, Rosemary Littleton of Grayson; a brother, William O. Slone of Lexington, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Tom Yakopin and Dr. Donald Damron, ministers. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
