James Alvin KeyesJames Alvin Keyes, age 82, of Hitchins, Ky., died Tuesday morning, Feb. 4th, at his residence, following an extended illness.

Mr. Keyes was born May 19th, 1920, at Johns Run, Ky., a son of the late Herbert and Martha Gollihue Keyes.

He was retired from Ky. Electric Steel as a crane operator, was a devoted Christian & member of the Willard Wesleyan Church, a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the D.A.V. #147 and was a Ky. Colonel.

He was preceded in death by: 4 brothers: Claude (& Elma) Keyes, Arnold (& Norma) Keyes, Clint Keyes and Clayton Keyes and 3 sisters: Mildred (& Frank) Sammons, Elsie (& Sam) Wilcox and Doloris (& Clyde) Hanks.

His survivors include:

1 sister-in-law:

Joyce Keyes Phoenix, AZ

Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces, Great-Nephews and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00pm at the Malone Funeral Home with Walter Wilcox and David Wilcox, ministers. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-9 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Community Hospice 1538 Central Avenue Ashland, KY 41101.

Aunt Nita, just wanted to let you know how much we love you and how much Uncle Alvin meant to us. He will me be greatly missed. We love you and are thinking of you everyday.

Aunt Anita, we love you and want to support you any way we can during this time. You were a wonderful partner with Uncle Alvin for 55 years, and we share your loss. He is in a better place now, free of pain.
