Jean Marie Slentz age 84 of Greenville died at her home on Tuesday December 7, 2004.
She was born in Greenville on August 14, 1920 the daughter of Earl and Myrtle Bissell Wilcox. She was a graduate of Greenville High School, attended the First Congregational Church where she had taught Sunday School, was a Cub Scout Leader and an accomplished artist. She was married in Greenville on June 26, 1940 to Michael W. Slentz and were married for 57 years when he died on October 11 ,1997. She lived in her home for over 60 years as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter Karen (George) Clark of Grand Rapids, her sons;
Michael ‘Mick’ (Joan) Slentz, Kelley (Marcia) Slentz and Barry (Carmalene) Slentz all of Greenville, 10 Grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren her sister Ava (George ) Bond of Boston , sister in law Pluma Wilcox and brother in law Ken Thomas and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her sisters , Iris Schuppert and Vonnie Thomas and brother Max Wilcox.
Funeral services will be held on Friday December 10 at 11 AM from First Congregational Church of Greenville with Rev. Jerrold T. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Memorial contributions may be given to First Congregational Church or to Multiple Sclerosis Society (MS).
