Roger Earl marks, 74, of Greenville, died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids.
He was born in Barryton on Dec. 17, 1930, the son of James and Mabel Rhodes Marks.
Roger was employed by Wolverine World Wide for many years and then retired from Frigidaire with more than 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1948 to 1952, and married Dorothy H. Bannen on Jan. 31, 1953, in Belding. He was a member of the American Legion Ray I. Booth Post 101 of Greenville, the Greenville Moose Lodge, and the VFW Cleveland-Wolverton Post 3794 of Greenville. Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to customize automobiles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald and Robert "Cheato" Marks; and sister-in-law, Doris Cole.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy; their children, Roger and Linda Marks, Lourie and Dean Wickes, Gail Soules, all of Greenville; grandchildren, Jennifer and Chris Bloss, Steven and Rachel Harrell, Ryan, Jessica, David, Michele, Jake; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Louise and Max Briggs of Vickeryville; brothers Bill and Dawn Marks of Sparta, Walt and Joanne Marks of Greenville; in-laws Connie and Joe DeVries of Comstock Park, Edward and Marty Bannen of Parnell, Marshall and MaryAnne Bannen of Grand Rapids, Larry and Lois Bannen of Greenville, Phil and Jackie Bannen of Six Lakes; and several nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation with the family is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Legion Post 101 of Greenville.
