1913 - 2005
Mrs. Doris C. Johns, aged 92, of Grand Rapids, MI, entered into eternal life Wednesday, March 23, 2005. She was born January 7, 1913, the daughter of Alexander and Evelyn Simmers of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was employed by Yoder-Atkins Greenhouse and HJ Heinz Company, LTD in Leemington, Ontario. She served beside her husband of 63 years, the Rev. Harold C. Johns, who preceded her in death in December 2003. She is survived by her children, Charles and Mary Beth Johns of FL, Larry and Lee Johns of AZ, Caryl and John Hackett of Adrian, MI, and Robert and BettyBeth Johns of Grand Rapids, MI; 11 grandchildre; and 7 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Kingsville, Ontario, Rev. Jim Baley officiating. Interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Kingsville. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Kingsvill (PO Box 56, Kingsville, ON N9Y 2E8) or to the First Baptist Church of Ferndale, MI (1841 Pinecrest, Ferndale, MI 48220).
