Manuel Louis Raby, age 86, of Orleans died Sunday February 27, 2005 at his home. He was born in Greenville on January 1, 1919 the son of Artie and Sylvia Pearl Edwards Raby.
He retired from General Tire in Ionia with 28 years service and was a farmer first and foremost. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially his farm on Long Lake Road, which he worked for over 50 years. He loved camping, fishing, and mushrooming. He was a member of the American Legion Ray I. Booth Post 101 of Greenville.
He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Harva Lou, their children, Marylee and Tom Snyder of Zephyrhills, Florida, Manuel Allen and Barb Raby of Greenville, Rhonda and Gerald Wall of Stanton, Michael and Cindy Raby of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sandra and Robert Surdam of Greenville, and Artie and Kathy Raby of Orleans, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Winifred Raby of Rogers Heights, Pauline Denton of Florida, Delta Raby of Ionia, and Richard and Delores Christensen of Greenville and many nieces and nephews. Manuel was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed everyday by his wife and family.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 5, 2005 at 10:30 AM at Shiloh Community Church with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. A luncheon and fellowship time with the family to follow the services. Memorial contributions may be given to the church. Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville is serving the family.
