Julia W. Wood, age 83, of Greenville died Monday at her home. She was born in Tustin on January 25, 1922 the daughter of Sidney and Edith Hammer Madole. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Wood, on August 7, 1996, her daughter, Betty Leone, in 1946, and her sisters, Evelyn Allen and Amelia Mahlich.
She was a retired school bus driver and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 101 and the Sheridan Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Swoveland, and her son, Kayl Madole, both of Greenville; her special daughter, Irene Matin; her grandchildren, Michael and Faye Swoveland of Greenville, Kimberly and John Mast of Grand Rapids, and Heather and Todd Karnatz of Grenville; a special niece, Cindy Sturdavant; her brothers, Alton Madole of Cadillac and Robert Madole of Greenville; her sisters, Esther Cole of Belding and Joyce Cooley of Cadillac; and several nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation and remembrance will be held on Thursday February 9, 2005 from 7-9 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville ending with prayers and a committal by Pastor Connie Schatz of Belding United Methodist Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Greenville Lions Club or the Belding United Methodist Church.
