Basil A. Crowder age 73 of Lakeview formerly of Belding and Greenville died Friday October 21, 2005 at Spectrum Health Grand Rapids from injuries sustained in an accident in September. He was born in Jennings, Michigan on January 22, 1932 the son of Winfield S. and Pearl Flack Crowder.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Okinawa, retired after many years as a masonry contractor and was a former member of the American Legion. He married Oveda P. Willett on June 12, 1966 and she died from a car pedestrian accident on August 15, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Merlin and Calvin Crowder and his sisters; Lillian Helmer, Winnifred McClain,Velma Chapel and Dorthea Crowder.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa K. Rigney and Joe Morin of Gowen , his grandsons; K.J. Rigney , Casey Rigney and Riley Morin, his brother Melvin Crowder of Midland, sisters in law and brothers in law; Adeline Ballmer of Manton, Donna Willett of Ft. Lauderdale FL, Robert and Joanne Willet of Manton and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 AM from Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Dr. Harry R. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Lake City Cemetery Lake City MI. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6 PM at the funeral home.
