Lawrence Edward Black age 84 of Cedar Springs died at home Friday December 16, 2005. He was born in Fenwick MI on February 14, 1921 the son of James A.G. and Etta Lund Black.
He was married on Jan 1, 1942 in Sheridan to Frances A. Dickinson. He was employed for 30 years with General Motors Fisher Body Grand Rapids and was a member of and very involved in his church, Greenville Bible Methodist. He was active up to the date of his death with his mini-farm where he enjoyed his contended chickens, gardening and his fruit trees.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances of Cedar Springs, his daughter, Alberta and Nathan Burley of Cedar Springs , sons; James and Dawn Black of Greenville, Melvin and Joyce Black of Muskegon , 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, his sister Retha Ruhl of Bellingham WA, sisters-in-law, Claribelle Green of Cedar Springs, Martha Tiede of Greenville and brother-in-law Don Dickinson of Greenville and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Ronald Black 2004 and his sister Winnifred Walters and brother Russell Black.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2005 at 2 PM from Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be on Monday from 6-8 PM And Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Memorial contributions may be given to Greenville Bible Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
