Gae Deane (Brough) Shelden, 54, our precious wife, mother, and sister, passed from this life and was welcomed into the loving arms of her savior early on Monday morning, January 23rd, 2006 at her home in Gowen. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 26th, 1951 to Marvin and Daphne Horton Brough.
Gae spent most of her life in the Greenville and Gowen areas where she was a central figure in the lives of her immediate and extended families. Always curious and spontaneous, there was never a dull moment when Gae was around. Unafraid to talk to anyone, she made friends easily with her openness, her honesty, and her affectionate nature. She made it easy to laugh and smile. Gae worked many jobs, of which her two favorites were Wendy’s in Greenville and Home Depot in Grand Rapids. She enjoyed visiting, shopping, and going out to eat. At home she spent hours crocheting beautifully unique baby blankets, working on cross-stitch, doing puzzles, loving her animals, and talking with her friends and family.
Gae is survived by her husband Keith Shelden and their daughter Mariah Shelden, both of Gowen; and Gae’s children Andrea (Tony) Shepard of Belding; and Anthony Krick of Greenville. She was a treasure in our midst and will be sorely missed by all of her family including her grandchildren Kaitlin, Jennifer, and Toni Shepard of Belding; Chandler Krick, Makayla Krick, and Tiffany Tarket of Greenville; her sisters and brothers, Debra L. Welch of Wayland; Lee and Teresa Brough of Scotts; Susan and Steve Matthews of Greenville, Greg and Kim Brough of Greenville; Holly and Duane Wolfe of Evart; Kelly Brough of Gowen; and Robin Brough of Cadillac; her aunt Carolyn vonKronenberger of Gowen; Step mom Jerri Brough of Manton; many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Private good-byes were said at Gae’s home in Gowen before a requested cremation by Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
