John H. Rood Jr. age 80 of Gowen died Tuesday evening at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Michigan. He was born in Cannonsburg. MI on April 5. 1925 the son of John H. and Sadie Pike Rood Sr. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy Rood, his daughter Patricia Darlene Rood, his daughter- in - law Patricia Ann Rood, sister Nancy Rood and brothers, Jay, Otto, Russell and Lee Rood. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Betty J. Rood , their children; Catherine and David Havens of Fenwick, Richard and Maxine Rood of Greenville , John H. Rood Jr. of Greenville, Craig Rood of Gowen, 19 grandchildren , 26 great grandchildren, sisters and brothers; Delbert Rood, Susan Rood, Jake Rood, Fay Rood, Abe Rood , Mike Rood and Robert Rood, and sister in laws Thelma Rood and Doris and Lavern Wolfe and many nieces , nephews and many friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 25, 2006 at 1 PM from Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Scott Lindner officiating. Burial will be in Oakfield Cemetery, Greenville . Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home . In lieu of Flowers , memorial contributions may be given to Betty J. Rood.
