Our deepest sympathy to Donelda, Randy, Ron, & Rhonda and families. We remember Paul as a man with strong family values, who was dedicated to his family and farm and a real visible presence in the church of our growing up years; the Lakeview Methodist Church. He had a gentle spirit and always a warm pleasant smile. As teenagers, we thought Randy's parents were really cool! His dignity and spirit throughout his years of declining health was a wonderful example of his belief that God is author of his life. Our thoughts and prayers will be with all of the family as you mourn his physical presence in your lives.

Paul Chapin....I remember a gentle, soft spoken man, the father of my best friend, Rhonda.... going to and from the barn, riding a tractor, helping with horses, having a border collie at his side, fixing and eating fried ring bologna which I thought was really weird, but delicious....a woman at his side deligently making delicious meals (what I have coined as "Chapin Baked Beans") which to this day I have fixed hundreds of times for my family and have passed on the recipe many times, someone who could with just one serious look at two little girls being uncontrollably giggly in the two-seater pew in the Methodist Church in Lakeview, make us stop to behave quickly! A certain stride and posture as he walked. A person who would take Rhonda and me to the Ionia Free Fair for the day to have fun. Someone without fail give me a "birthday spanking" each time Rhonda & I celebrated our birthday together. A person who came from humble beginnings, who told us stories about his growing up and that it wasn't uncommon to have snow on their blanket when they woke up after a winter's night in a very "breezy" house...a person who cared about his neighbors, his church, his family and his community, a person who worked hard at every job he had....a person who did good deeds for others without anyone knowing... a person who touched my life for- ever and someone who I wanted to introduce and have my children know....a person who I love and will always remember......thank you for being what a real person is all about, giving love unconditionally to me, knowing what's important in life and living it.....much love....Mary

Dear Family, so sorry to hear about Paul. I'll always have fond memories of Paul starting back in the Methodist Church days in Lakeview when we were kids. Paul was always a very wonderful man with a warm smile. Not too long ago Mother and I had lunch with your folks at Clark. Mother( Barbara Sirrine) would be with you however she is visiting us in Florida. Our prayers and best wishes are with all of you! Gary & Julie
