1926 - 2006

Robert Jacob Kurnat age 80 formerly of Greenville, Scram Lake and Crystal Lake died Sunday April 30, 2006 at Railside Living Center in Byron Center MI. He was born in Greenville on January 13, 1926 the son of Jacob J. and Minnie Benedict Kurnat.

Bob was employed at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company for over 42 years. He was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, the Moose Lodge of Greenville, a proud member of the UAW Local 137 and he enjoyed many years of wintering in Palmetto Florida.

His wife Dorothy preceded him in death in 1983 and his wife Ann in 1998 and his brother Lewis Kurnat in 1995.

He is survived by his son and wife, Thomas L. and Jayma Kurnat of Byron Center, his daughter Melinda and Dave Hafer of Kalamazoo, his grandchildren, Karen Kurnat and Tim Beyer, John and Lorie Kurnat, Rebecca and Jon Cahall, Andi and Michael Fisackerly and Rex Hafer , his great grandchildren, Emilie, Jakob, Aidan and Kian, his step grandchildren, Tory Kamerling and Traci Donnelly and step great grandchild Caiden, his sister Ruby O. Kurnat and her special friend Marlene Chase of Byron Center and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 4, 2006 at 2 PM from Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Ted Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Holland Home Hospice.

Sorry to hear of your father's death. He had a long life and a lot of experiences I remember him as a young man visiting the farm with Aunt Dorothy in the early 1940's. He always had a snappy car and a ready wit. Interesting to know that his sister Ruby is still alive. Best regards, Bob Christensen
