James B. Briggs age 70 of Greenville passed away early Sunday morning May 7, 2006 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.
The son of Bernard and Thena Briggs, he was born July 1, 1935 in Lansing Michigan.
Jim graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1953. He retired from Westinghouse and Roberts Sinco Corp. He was a member of the Wisemen’s club and First Congregational Church in Greenville and former member of the Michigan National Guard. He enjoyed wood-working, cooking, gardening and fishing.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife Suzanne of Greenville,his son, Jay Briggs , daughter Jamie Briggs and sister Martha Dee all of Lansing, his step children, B. Edward Horn of New York, Scott Horn of Sparta and Lisa and Rob Caputo of Indianapolis IN, four grandchildren, a niece and many special friends and his loving church family.
Memorial services will be held on Friday May 12, 2006 at 11 AM from First Congregational Church with Rev. Jerrold T. Jones officiating. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Visitation will be held at Hurst Funeral Home from 7-9 PM on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Congregational Church or American Diabetes Association in care of Hurst Funeral Home.
