Margaret Elda Nielsen age 93 of Trufant died Saturday May 6, 2006 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Long Term Care Unit in Greenville. She was born in Oakfield Township, Kent County, Michigan on November 1, 1912 the daughter of Clarence and Belle Gravelle Osgood.
Elda was a graduate of Greenville High School with the class of 1931. She worked for many years for the Christensen Nursing Home in Trufant and Greenville. She taught Sunday school at the Settlement Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Extension Club.
Her husband Octa Nielsen preceded her in death in August 1953, her daughter Carolyn in Feb 1951 and her daughter in law Carla Nielsen on March 24, 2001.
She is survived by her sons, Albert and Maxine Nielsen and Gerald Nielsen both of Trufant, her grandsons, Michael and Barbara Nielsen of Greenville, Dan Nielsen and Addie of Trufant and Ronald and Lisa Nielsen of Howard City, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson, her sister Sadie Anderson of Greenville , her nieces , Linda and Dennis Brack of Royal Oak MI and Sue Maurice of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 9, 2006 at 1 PM from Hurst Funeral Home, with Pastor Madelyn Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Little Denmark Cemetery, Gowen. Visitation will be Monday evening from 7-9 PM and on Tuesday 1 hour prior to the services.
Memorial contributions may be given to Cowden Lake Christian Church
