Lillian Ila Miller age 87 of Gowen formerly of Fontana,California died Monday June 26, 2006 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born in Moline, Illinois the daughter of John and Jenny L. Morrison Zachmeyer on January 7, 1919.
She was married in 1941 to Stanford Taylor Miller. He preceded her in death on January 25,1985. She was also preceded in death by her brothers August and John Zachmeyer, sisters, Audrene Cohenhour and Mildred Paul, her son-in-law, Edwin D. Schutte on March 14,1999, her grandsons Mark T. Miller in 1989 and Lyle G. Hamann and great great granddaughter Kendra Ann Linderman .
She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Greenville and a former member of St. George’s Catholic Church in Fontana California where she and her husband helped build the church and was a devoted member for 50 years. She was a member of the Altar Society, the Rosary Group at St. George’s and served many hours each week helping maintain her church. She worked at the Kaiser-Permanente Hospital in Fontana CA for several years and returned to High School for her diploma while in her 50’s.
She is survived by her children, Linda Schutte of Gowen, Mary Helen and Gary Thies of Arroyo Grande, CA and Stanford R. Miller of Diamond Bar, CA, her grandchildren; Dan and Camille Schutte of Sheridan, Julie Hamann of Kentwood, Mary and Jim Taft and Stephanie and Robert Carey all of Gowen, Shawn Thies of Santa Barbara CA, Stephanie Thies of Nipomo CA, Jeffery Allen Thies of San Luis Obispo CA, Sara Miller of Corona, CA Ann and Bill Cobb of Brea, CA and Joe Schutte of Gowen, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, sister Lucille Whittkampt of Burlington, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 AM on Friday June 30, 2006 from St. Charles Catholic Church in Greenville with Father Phil Salmonowicz as celebrant. Burial will be in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, California. A rosary will be prayed on Thursday evening at 6 PM with visitation from 6-8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Memorial contributions may be given to the Disabled American Veterans.
