Alice May Herbert Evans age 90 formerly of the Stanton and Sheridan area died Friday July 21, 2006 at Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Mecosta County, MI on June 4, 1916 the daughter of Henry and Edna Demott Brandow. She was married in 1935 to Carl Herbert and he preceded her in death in 1987. She married Ceville Evans in 1988 and he died in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a son Norman Daniel Herbert in 1988 and an infant brother Roy, and sisters Mary Martin and Elsie Griffin.
She was employed at the Ore-Ida plant in Greenville retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Evergreen Free Methodist Church of Sheridan and was active with the Commission on Aging activities.
Surviving are her daughters, Alberta and Larry Bauer of Mt. Pleasant and Dixie and James R. Sansom of Greenville, her grandchildren; Angie, Rob, Scott, Jeremiah, Dean and Troy, 5 great grandchildren, stepson Raymond and Penny Evans of Sheridan and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 25,2006 at 1 PM from Evergreen Free Methodist, Sheridan with Pastor Jim Vandewarker officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be Monday July 24 from 6-8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Memorial contributions may be given to Evergreen Free Methodist Church.
