Barbara and I were so very sorry to hear of Nancy's death. Barbara is on her way to Florida, but asked me to convey her condolences. She remembers with great fondness their painting trips to Europe and elsewhere and will miss her a great deal. For my part we only met once or twice, but I remember her as a particularly lively and interesting person. She will be sorely missed

To Nancy's husband and family - please accept my sympathy for your loss. I did not know any of you, but Nancy was a friend of mine for the many years we painted together at Loretta Sailors' house. Nancy once invited Loretta and me to visit with her at your condo in Florida. We had a wonderful time painting together down there. I have some great photos that will always remind me of those memories of Nancy. To say that she was a great person and a terrific friend is just not enough. I regret that I did not keep in touch with her after my husband's death and I stopped painting. I am really saddened to hear of her illnes - and I am looking at her picture finding it really hard to believe that she is no longer with us. My heart goes out to you as you grieve - she will be remembered by many. Sincerely, Pam Clause

Thoughts and prayers go out to you all in this saddened time. We will never forget everything that you all did for us when Casey passed away. I will never forget the smile on Casey's face when your mom was able to alter Casey's racing suit for him. He had just gotten from the company he ordered it form and tried it on and it wouldn't fit, they told him to return it and would have the correct size to him in about two weeks. Well, this was a wednesday and Casey was to race friday night. He was very disappointed, until he found out that Mrs. Hammond was able to alter the suit for him, then all smiles. Well that friday he raced and also took won his first event. So someday when that suit is looked at we will remember two people. Love The Eberspeaker's

Dear Ham and family, I have a lovely painting of your mom's on my wall, a beautiful hand painted trunk she painted me for graduation, and yes, even a Greenville Furniture cedar box that she painted on the top of for me. I still treasure them all. I have a lot of memories of your bubbly mom at Camp Hammond, Barry Street, Chicago Museum, and so many more times. She was certainly one of those moms who had a lot of influence on us. I will always picture when I last saw her... walking briskly around the lake. Hope to be in touch with you. Love Shawn

Dr. Hammond, Russ and Barb: I wanted you all to know how much Mrs. Hammond meant to me. One of my first jobs years ago was mowing the lawn when you moved to Baldwin Lake. I think I spent as much time hanging out with Louie as I did mowing. Mrs. Hammond always invited me in for lemonade, cookies or some other treat. She was always so good to me, even when I would "forget" to show up as I got older. About 12 years ago she did a painting of the Grand Haven pier and lighthouses for me. It still hangs above my fireplace today. It's always had special meaning because of who painted it. My thoughts are with you all. Andy

It's been a few years since I've had the opportunity to speak with Nancy, because of the fact that I know longer work at my fathers dry cleaners; Gay's Cleaners. But I will never forget what a wonderful lady she was, so pleasant and friendly. My prayers are with your family. God bless you all. Deb Daggett

Doc, Barb & Russ, our prayers and thoughts are with you. Mrs. Hammond was a great lady and truly one of the "Moms" of our growing up years in Greenville. The world certainly was made better by the gift of her life. Peace and love, Larry

Barb, We were so sorry to hear about your mom's departure. We actually didn't know about her illness wutil Scot Hornbrook stopped by just the other day. She will truly be missed by this community. The one word that I would describe her as would be "serenity". Always the cool-headed, calm and thoughtful one. With our deepest sympathy, Les and Vesta Morford

I was fortunate to meet Nancy two years ago at Russ and Sarah's house. At that time, my own mother was losing her fight with cancer, and Nancy, though I had just met her, took the time to offer me one of the most powerful messages of hope and comfort that I ever received during that tough time in my life. I wish that I was as eloquent as she in offering some comfort to you all now. But you can continue on with the pride of being the loved ones of a strong, wonderful woman. Though her art was beautiful, the most amazing art was Nancy herself. Our family will remember you in our prayers.
