
George John Verheek age 81 of Indian Lakes, Howard City, formerly of Greenville died at home Tuesday October 17, 2006. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 29,1925 the son of John G. and Nellie VanderLaan Verheek. George was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army Air-Force. He was owner operator of 3 Seasons RV Camp at Fish Lake for 40 years and of Fastax Income Tax service in Cedar Springs for over 30 years. He was a member of Symrna Bible Church and presently Pierson Bible Church. He loved computers, traveling with his motor home and people. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and his many friends.
He is survived by his wife Jane whom he married in Grand Rapids on December 7, 1946, his children; Carol (Richard) Engstrom of Chapel Hill N.C., Gary G. (Sandy) Verheek of Blue Spring, Missouri, Merrisue (Ron) Kroes of Coker Creek, Tennessee and Jeffrey (Susan) Verheek of Greenville, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, his sister Janet (Al) VerHoef of Kentwood, his sisters-in-law, Margaret (Don) Moss of Willow Brook, Illinois and Eleanor Kiley of Chicago, Illinois and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 21, 2006 at 11 AM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with Mr. Sam Cooley officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.Burial will be in Washington Park Memorial Gardens Grand Rapids. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Michigan
