Norbert “Norb” Anthony Remmy age 90 of Greenville died Friday December 1, 2006 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus Grand Rapids MI after a brief illness. He was born in Detroit MI on November 8, 1916 the son of Philip and Mary Pruss Rzemysack and was employed at Ford Motor Company for 44 years retiring in 1979 as a parts analyst. Norb was an avid golfer, loved fishing, especially in the Upper Peninsula of MI, and he was a skilled woodworker. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army and was a life member of the VFW Post 5065 of Sheridan MI. Norb was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Greenville and with his skills he crafted the large cross in the new church and also the stations of the cross, all from the wood that was recovered from the remains of the fire of the former St. Charles church.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susan Hellerich Remmy whom he married in Plymouth CT on Feb 26, 1977. Also surviving are his son and wife Gregory and Cyrilla “Cindy” Remmy of Canton Township MI, his grandson Matthew Remmy and granddaughter Michelle Remmy, his sister Dorothy Sczymasak of Clinton Twp MI his brother-in-law Arthur Wiczko of Warren MI, his wife’s family; her brother, William and Darlene Hellerich of CT. her sisters, Irene Caton of Missouri, Elizabeth Conrad of Las Vegas and Barbara and Robert Nevins of Vermont and several nieces and nephews.
His sister Evelyn Wiczko preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday December 5,2006 at 11 AM from St. Charles Catholic Church Greenville with Father Phil Salmonowicz as celebrant.Military Honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post 5065 of Sheridan. A Rosary will be prayed on Monday at 6 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
