Harold F. Allen age 84 of Oakfield Township, Rockford died at home Wednesday December 20, 2006.
He was born in Boyne City MI on September 25 1922 the son of Fay and Lillie West Allen. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army. He was employed by the Orkin Company for many years retiring in 1987. He served as a reserve police officer for the city of Greenville and was an active member of Greenville Church of the Nazarene and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and hunting. His first love was his family especially his grandchildren and was a friend to all children. He was married in Oakfield Township on September 23,1950 to Wilma V. Klienhans. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1999. His brother Carl Allen also preceded him in death.
On February 6, 2003 he married the former Ann Finkler Kinsel at St. Charles Catholic Church in Greenville. She survives along with his children, Charles F. and Rita Allen of Gowen, Donald E. and Cheryl Allen of Greenville, his grandchildren; Jonathan and Mary Allen of Portland, Sarah and Paul Stob of Madison, Wisconsin, Jennifer Allen and Chris Orlowski and Holly and Dave Whitney of Greenville, great grandchildren; Paige, Elliott, Cody, Chelsey, Taytum, Brianne, Kailey and Boston , Ann’s children; Al and Elaine Kensil of Cedar Springs, Keith and Wanda Kensil of Mackinac, Illinois, Dawn DeVreugd of Belding , Carter Kensil of Gowen, Christine and Paul Ciak of Taylor, Martin and Jean Kensil of Manistee, Nannette Moore of Belding and Pam Paris of Lakeview and several step grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters; Robert and Alice Allen of Greenville, LeRoy and Mary Allen of Grand Rapids, Marge and Elmer Minthorn of Fife Lake, James and Betty Allen of Boyne City, Ruth and Earl Neinas of Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin, his sisters-in-law, Vernice and John Michalak of Conklin and Donna Mae Allen of Greenville and his brother-in-law Carl and Jenny Finkler of Marne and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 23, 2006 at 11 AM from Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Deshaw of the Greenville Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in East Montcalm Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Greenville Church of the Nazarene.
