Ilah L. Uptigrove age 84 of Greenville formerly of Flint and Lakeview died Tuesday April 24, 2007 at Spectrum Health United Memorial -United Campus Greenville. She was born in Flint on January 29, 1923 the daughter of Frank and Doris Kennedy Horton. She was salutatorian of Beecher High School Flint with the class of 1941.She was a substitute teacher and also worked in a real estate office. She married Kenneth R. Uptigrove Sr. in Flint on June 5, 1942 and they danced together for many years. 42 years of square dancing and round dancing and served as officer with square dancing clubs. She was an avid card player and score keeper and for 65 years of marriage cared for her family, friends and other loved ones.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth R. Uptigrove Sr. of Greenville, her children; Kenneth R. and Suzanne Uptigrove Jr. of Owosso, Karen and William Thorsen of Brighton and Mary Uptigrove of Charlotte, her grandchildren, Chad Uptigrove, Kathy and Brian Vander Bee and Krista Thorsen and twin great grandsons, Sam and Luke Uptigrove, brother in law and sister in law, Robert Keith and Angelena Uptigrove of Grand Blanc and Margaret and Forrest Ault of Livonia, nieces and nephews her brother Donald Horton preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 27 2007 at 2PM from Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Ted Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens,Belding. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 2 PM on Friday
