
Rachel Peterman age 97 of Greenville died Saturday July 14, 2007 after a short convalescence at Metron of Greenville. She was born in Smyrna on April 4 1910 the daughter of Jesse and Matilda Hodges and was married to Raymond D. Peterman in Stanton on October 2, 1926. She was employed at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company for 35 years retiring in 1972. She liked to crochet and garden and enjoyed traveling on the Greenville Transit to help her maintain her independence. She was proud of her family and enjoyed her grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Her husband preceded her in death August 10, 1984 and her daughter Helen Briggs January 6, 1993 and her son Herbert “Bob” Peterman was declared deceased and missing in action in February 1951 in Korea. She was the last surviving sibling of her family as her brothers Arthur, Lloyd, Elmer and Everett and sisters, Lottie, Gladys, Nancy, Ethel and Lucille have all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Esther Peterman of Greenville, her son-in-law Albert Briggs of Greenville, grandchildren; Lisa and David Ralph of Greenville, Albert “Rocky” and Mary Briggs of Rockford, Robert and DeeDee Briggs of Dorr, Dru Ann and David Rooker of Lowell, Michael and Teresa Peterman of Grandville, Tim and Vickie Peterman of New Port Richey, FL and Nancy Peterman and her husband Tony Kim of Chicago, 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, her sisters-in-law, Mildred Frandsen of Grand Ledge and Bessie Hodges of Belding, her brother-in-law Charles Hall of Greenville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 18,2007 at 1 PM from Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Jerrold T. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-8:30 PM at the funeral home.
