Hugh L. Peake Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1908 - 2007 Hugh L. Peake age 98 of Gowen and Apache Junction Arizona, formerly of Elkader Iowa died at home in Gowen on Sunday July 29, 2007. He was born in Mederville, Iowa on September 5, 1908 the son of Charles and Rosa Schneider Peake. He was an educator, farmer and Insurance agent in Iowa for many years. Seven brothers and 1 sister have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Eleanor G. Peake of Gowen, his stepchildren; David Geer of Gowen , Daniel Geer of Brighton MI and Diane Parkhill of Pullman, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and his sister Addie Lee Peake and brother Fleet Peake both of Iowa . Memorial services will be held at the First Congregational Church in Elkrader Iowa on Saturday August 18th at 11AM with burial in Bethel Cemetery, Coldsburg Iowa

Hi Ellie, I am Dan and Rita Smith's daughter and heard of Hugh's death on the local radio station this morning. Mom always kept me posted on the two of you. I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Hugh. He treated us all so very well, in his loving caring manner. He was my first real example of a true gentleman. I'm so glad he had many good years with you. He was a special, special spirit. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Becky
