
Donna Marie Walker, 82, found eternal peace early Monday morning after complications from a stroke. Donna began her journey through life on November 22, 1924, in Stanton Michigan; Donna was the second of two children born of Jesse and Pearl Greenhoe. Donna lived the majority of her life in Stanton, MI, where she graduated from Stanton High School in 1942. She and Edward D. Walker were married on November 6, 1943, and had five children. Donna and Edward ran a family farm in Stanton until the after Edwards death in 1966. She then moved to Greenville where she worked at Ore Ida until 1985, when she retired. In her retirement years she became a devoted volunteer. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #203,Belding, 8&40 of Ionia County. She was a volunteer and the American Red Cross Blood Drive and also frequently volunteered at the VFW Post 3794 in Greenville. Donna was a loving mother and doting grandmother who never missed a birthday or anniversary without sending a card.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Albert; two infant sons; sister, Dorothy and her mother and father; Jesse and Pearl Wilcox Greenhoe. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: her daughter Judy (Walker) Johnston, and her husband Dwight Johnston, of Stanton; her son Larry Walker of Greenville; five Grandchildren: Albert Johnston, Valerie Johnston, Vanessa Wasko, Heather Wilson and Jessica Walker who is studying in Australia; nine Great Grandchildren: Andrew, Thomas, Gage, Raegan, Delaney, Savannah, James, Oliver, and Lucas. She is also survived by three nieces, and one nephew, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
The family will be receiving visitors on Wednesday from 7-9 PM. Services will be held on Thursday at 1 PM at Hurst funeral home in Greenville, 754-6616. Pastor Jamey Nichols, of First Congregational Church of Stanton, will preside. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sheridan. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Red Cross.
