2005 - 2007
Sophie Marie Rus age 22 months of Belding precious daughter of Christina Rus and Kevin Nelson died suddenly September 2, 2007. She was born in Carson City on October 16, 2005 and is survived by her parents Christina and Kevin, her brothers, Blaze and Alex and sisters Alicia and Megan, her grandparents; Judy and Marion Rus of Greenville, Kathy and Art Raby of Orleans and Rick Nelson of Riverdale, aunts and uncles, Don Nelson and Marcie, Lisa and Billy Parks, Michael and Jennifer Rus, Jennifer and David Thrush, Amy Rus, Jessica Rus, and Cassidy Rus, great grandparents, Cornie and Katherine Rus of Rock Valley, Iowa, Daniel Bendel of Stoddard, Wisconsin, Arlene Clendening of Ionia, Judy Houchsprung of Vestaburg and several Great Aunts and Uncles .
She was preceded in death by her great grandmother Loretta Bendel and great grandfathers, Bill Clendening and Fred Houchsprung. Sophie Marie Rus was born October 16, 2005. She was 22 months when the angels from heaven came down and took her from her family. In her short life she was loved by many. Sophie enjoyed playing in the water at Bass Lake and riding on the wave runner with her grandfather. She loved to play outside with her brothers, sisters, and her cousins. She warmed our hearts with her laughter and smiles. Sophie loved to get into things and situations that would get her into trouble. She would give us one of her smiles and all would be forgotten until the next time. Sophie also enjoyed climbing on her dad and playing games with him.
Funeral services will be on Friday September 7, 2007 at 1 PM from Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 PM.

Sophie Marie Rus
Gazing down at that precious face, so quiet and peaceful in deaths sleep, memories of soft childish laughter echo in this new hole in my heart.
No more the resounding patter of tiny little feet,
no more the mischievous smile or happy wave when we part.
A joyful spirit so full of freedom in life,
not a worry or care
to bring a sad look of despair.
She warmed the weary hearts of family, friend and strangers all,
her laughter and smiles lifted our spirits to new heights of pleasure.
Did she know? When did she hear the heavenly angles call,
to leave this temporary home for God’s eternal treasure.
Time will pass slowly for us left behind,
but for her will pass quickly, so much of heaven to see,
sitting contented on the Father’s knee.
Our tears of sorrow are for us and our loss.
Our smiles of joy are for her and her new life just begun.
The separation will be to us a great cost,
but no greater than that of the Father and Son.
Because of Their willingness to give Their all,
heaven will some day soon be our home as well.
And when our time comes and the heavenly angels call,
Sophie will be waiting for us with wondrous stories to tell.
Jesus said;
“Suffer the little children, and forbid them not,
to come unto me:
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
We love you, precious Sophie,
and you will always be with us.
Cherished in our hearts memory,
sweet Sophie Marie Rus.

Goodbye Lullaby
Dedicated to my loving niece Sophie
I sing a lullaby next to you in your loving bed
and know that forever more you will rest your head
I say good night and kiss your cheek
and know that you will no longer peek
You go on while I stay here
and remember your loving memories so dear
Even though it will be a long time till I see you again
I know that you will be well looked after in heaven
Now it is time to say goodbye to your family and friends but we will always love you till the very end

Few understand the loss of a child, no matter the age. Those who have felt this pain do understand what you are are feeling today. There will be difficult times ahead and with faith, your family and the strength given by God you will go on. Life will return to normal, just a different kind of normal.
You are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
