1922 - 2007

Mrs. Frances I. (Cushing) House, 85, died Sunday October 21, 2007 in Greenville, MI.

She was born in Detroit, MI on July 31,1922 and raised by her paternal grandparents and her paternal aunt, Faye, on Frost Hill above the small New Hampshire Village of Marlboro which undoubtedly contributed to her flinty New England Disposition. She attended the University of Michigan where she met a medical student, Glenn House, who would be her future husband. She spent the balance of her life as the wife of a family physician in Greenville, MI. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, pets, golf, bridge and anything maize and blue or Republican.

Fran volunteered for many years as the Blood Mobile Organizer and a mentor to the mentally impaired children at Forest Grove School.

Her husband Dr. Glenn W. House preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Martha Reamon) House, Steven House and William (Barbara) House, her grandchildren; Meredith and Jose Portelas, Glenn, Zachary, and Mackenzie House, Sara and Troy Seeley, Amber and Jeremy Dalstra, Leah and Eric Harrington and four great grandchildren.

A private memorial was held by the family. Memorial contributions may be given in her name to the Greenville Area Community Foundation

To Glenn and Marty; To see Mrs. House's obit. brought back a flood of memories of youth. As you recall Glenn, we used to go to your house often after school to play pool, ping-pong and cards. It was our card playing that stirred you Mother to action as we played euchre, setback etc. Finally your Mother could take it no longer and I still remember her saying "if your going to play cards, why don't you play a real game". With that, Camel cigarette in hand, she set out to teach us the game of bridge. She tought us to think about politics (biased as it was) and was tolerant of our youth. I thought the world of your Mother, Glenn and I just wish Marty, you could have known her at her fiesty best. Since there was no service, Karen Hulbert, Jane and I stopped at the Winter Inn Tuesday to toast your Mother and give her a send off she would have appreciated. God Bless Fred and Jane Walkington
