Robert Russell Higgins age 89 of Montcalm Township Greenville passed away Sunday morning at home. He was born in Montcalm Township on November 19,1917 the son of Vernor G. and Clara E. Simmons Higgins. Bob was a farmer all his life living on the same farm since 1939. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church and the Farm Bureau.
His wife Cleo, whom he married in 1939, preceded him in death in 1989, and also his sons Roger in 2001 and Gary in 2004, his brothers Calvin in 1979 and Marvin in 2004 and also his great grandson Jacob Michael Higgins in 1999.
He married Edith Forsythe in 1991 and she survives along with his son John and Cindy Higgins of Ada, his daughters-in-law Beverly of Greenville and Sue of Indiana, grandchildren; Chris Higgins and Linda Sawyer of Greenville, Michael Higgins of Smyrna, Rhonda “Katie” and Curt Sisson of Sheridan, Lisa and Mark Moore of Lowell, Julie and Ray Fox of Greenville, Jack Higgins of Alma and Jim (now serving in Iraq) and Tonya Higgins of Alma, Jason Higgins and Ashley McPherson of Greenville, Chris and Kim Higgins, Dustin Averill, and Debbie Stinson all of Texas, Dusti and George DeVille of Wyoming, Sarah Deiters of Grand Rapids, MaryBeth Deiters of Ada and several great grandchildren, step-daughters Fern Jessop of Greenville andDonna and Marvin Shepherd of Casper Wyoming,sister-in-law Barbara Corey of Stanton and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 15, 2007 at 1 PM from Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Winter officiating. Burial will be in East Montcalm Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 6-8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Baptist Church
