Evelyn M Christensen

Evelyn M. Christensen, 88, lifelong resident of Greenville, passed peacefully into the Lord’s hands, December 1, 2007. She joins her loving husband of 54 years, LaVern and one great grandchild.

Evelyn will be forever missed by many including her sisters, Beatrice and Paul Worden and Sheila and Leo Block, all of Greenville; children, Carol Christensen, Sheridan, Linda Christensen, Greenville, Roger and Sheila Christensen, Rockford, and Randy and Tamie Christensen, Greenville; grandchildren, Stacy and Keith Bickford, Bruce and Carey Mitchell, Kelly and Bruce Nicholson, Dr Matthew Christensen and Dr Shirley Lim, Marcus and Audrey Christensen, Jessica and Anthony Mamais, Ed and Mary Christensen, and Rodney Christensen; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and by many special friends.

Evelyn was an active member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Greenville for many years and was a member of Rachel’s Circle. She worked hard her entire life farming; she enjoyed gardening, traveling with her husband, spending winters in Florida, & helping friends in need of assistance. Her family remembers fondly her commitment to a daily diary she kept for many years and to her Sunday dinners where she loved to cook for all.

She was the anchor of her family. She was an honest, kind, generous, gracious and gentle woman who believed deeply in the essential goodness of all people and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Above all she loved God, a woman of faith; we rejoice in the knowledge that she is now in the everlasting arms of God. She enjoyed each day God gave her and lived each one as a gift. We are thankful that God gave us the privilege to call her wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, and aunt. She is and will always be, a true inspiration to all those who knew and loved her. Although she is now no longer with us, her legacy of love will bless many generations to come.

She touched so many hearts and lives and was loved by everyone she met

Celebration of her life with friends and relatives 7 to 9PM Monday will be at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December, December 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Greenville with Rev. Clayton Bates officiating. Burial will be in South Sidney Cemetery, Sheridan. Memorial contributions may be given to St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Greenville

My husband and I only met Evelyn back in the summer when she was stranded at the foot doctor. My husband spent many hours getting that old car up and running while I sat with Evelyn and heard all the stories about her family. She was an awesome woman, and I am so glad I got the chance to meet her. My heart goes out to the family. Susan Shattuck
