Sarah Collins age 88 of Greenville died Monday evening at Metron of Greenville. She was born in Gowen, MI on April 23, 1919 the daughter of Pete and Emma Jensen Jacobsen. She was retired from the former Frigidaire Corporation with 32 years of service and was a member of the Local 137 UAW union. She was a member of Turk Lake United Methodist Church, the DAV and was a volunteer with 8Cap driving seniors to Doctor appointments.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hartley Collins on April, 25 1992. They were married in Detroit MI on November 17, 1944. She was also preceded by her brother Ray Jensen and Sister Iva Wilson and her special friend Charles Nobles in 2003.
Surviving are her son and family; Dale and Grace Mickey Jacobsen of Fenwick, grandchildren, Deb and Terry Thomsen, of Stanton, David and Denise Jacobsen of Greenville, Denise and Duane Thornburg of Stanton, Jerry Perkins of Orleans and Don and Karen Perkins of Ionia, grandchildren; Travis and Ryan Thompson, Austin and Christopher Jacobsen, Troy, Chad and Elizabeth Thornburg and nieces and nephews.
Funeral and committal services will be held at Hurst Funeral Home on Thursday January 24, 2008 at 1 PM with Rev. Kay Welsch officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
