HANCOCK- Olive Beatrice Hancock passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Metron of Greenville. She was born January 27, 1922 in Greenville, the daughter of Clyde and Jennie Dann. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spent hours sewing, knitting, working puzzles, playing her organ, and bowling. She worked at the former Gibsons Refrigeration and United Memorial Hospital. Olive was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Lyle Powers and George Hancock; two sons, Jimmie and Harold Powers; a daughter, Betty Lou Powers; three brothers, Melvin, Alton, and Everett Dann; and a sister, Esther Rhodes. She is survived by her son, Roger Powers; her granddaughters, Laura Lee Carey, Jennie Lee Powers, and Jaime Powers; her grandsons, Mika, Steven, and Sam Powers, all of Greenville; and many great-grandchildren. Olives family will greet friends and relatives during a time of visitation Monday from 10-12 at Hurst Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in her honor may be given to a charity of ones choice.
