Elberta Lucille Varney age 91 of Greenville died Sunday evening May 25, 2008 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Greenville. She was born August 21, 1916 at Hart Michigan to Motley and Jennie Mae Pickett Rolison. She married Raymond A. Varney November 12, 1932 at the Methodist Parsonage, Greenville by Rev. Leo B. Niles. They had five children; Raymond A. Jr., Roger Dean Varney and his wife Gretchen of Las Vegas NV, Marilyn Ellen and her husband James Schofield of Gowen, David Alan and his wife Jean of Greenville and Barbara Lynn Hopkins, deceased, 12 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren and son-in-law Virgil Hopkins of Greenville.
She was a long time member of the Industry Rebekah Lodge (40 Years) being secretary 31 years, a member of Greenville Area Senior Center and Greenville Community Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by Raymond Jr. Dec 19, 1937, her husband Raymond Sr Nov. 15th 1978, her daughter Barbara May 25 1992, and grand son Robert Ray Varney on December 28, 2001. She was also preceded by brother Max Rolison August 22, 1990 and half sisters, Marvel Idema, Iva Lundquist, Bernice Miller, and Louise Clause and half brothers, Norman Kreigh and Leon Rolison.
Funeral services will be on Thursday May 29, 2008 at 11 AM at Hurst Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Burial will be in Bostwick Lake Cemetery, Rockford. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Greenville Area Senior Center
