1927 - 2008
Ernest E. McMeeken age 81 of Greenville passed away on Sunday morning September 14, 2008 at his home. He was born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin on July 9, 1927 the son of Ernest A. and Florence L. Peck McMeeken. He was a veteran of the US Navy Seebees in WW II and retired after more than 30 years with the C & O Railroad. Ernie was life member of the American Legion Post # 101 of Greenville serving actively and also a life member of the Lester J. Sitts V.F.W. Post #5065 of Sheridan. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Greenville Lodge and The Shrine. He loved the Upper Peninsula and to be able to get to the cabin and hunt and fish in the UP.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly J. Rhodes McMeeken in 1986 and also his sister Denise Powers. He married Alice Soss Petersen on November 14, 1986 and she survives along with his son Stanley Ernest McMeeken and his wife Barbara of Greenville, Alices daughters Tracy and Bob Gilbert of Greenville and Kelly and Greg Rasmussen of Gowen, his special grandchildren, Jama and Josh Ingersoll of Trufant, Chris and Angie Gilbert of Grand Rapids, McCauley and Trish OConnor of Spring Lake, Stanley Ernest and Esmiralda McMeeken and Christopher W. and Emily McMeeken all of Grand Rapids, five great grandchildren, his favorite Pal and number 1 son his dog Willy at home, his brothers, John S. McMeeken of Dowagiac, Lawrence and Kay McMeeken of Gowen, Robert McMeeken of Akron Ohio, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean and Linton Harwood, Dusty Rhodes and Pauline Rhodes all of Belding and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Military Services will be performed at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding at 12 O Clock Noon on Wednesday September 17, 2008 with his Post from the Ray I. Booth American Legion of Greenville performing the honors. A luncheon and fellowship time will follow immediately at the Legion Post in Greenville. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice or the American Cancer Society |

Stan, We always have wonderful memories of growing up with a funny and fun loving bunch of cousins, aunts and uncles. Some of us even chased a train or two with Uncle Ernie and Uncle George.
Many family reunions and just plain ole Sunday afternoons together horsing around and getting in trouble. Those were the days I wish my kids could
remember. Many memories!!

As my brother said I also will always remeber the caboose and driving the big red three wheeler and listening to old 45's on the record player. I miss you grandpa

I will always remember the good times going up north with uncle Ernie deer hunting ,vacationing and all the times you took me with, so I could ride the train. Pat the Brat
