Donna Jean Paepke age 82 of Pierson died at home Christmas Day 2009. She was born in Grand Rapids on June 21, 1927 the daughter of Bert and Jennie Ehrling Fike and was raised by her step-father Flour Hakkers. They have preceded her in death and also her daughter Kathleen Ann Paepke in 2006 and her sister June Townshend in 2009.
She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant and the Ladies circle of church, the VFW Auxiliary of Sand Lake and the Sand Lake Lions Club and was active in the PTA of Tri-county Schools. She married Carl A. Paepke in Rockford on August 28, 1944.
She is survived by her husband Carl of Pierson and her daughters, Pricilla (Bob) Heimbecker and Jeanne and Steven Poulsen all of Trufant, her grandchildren; Jeffrey (Denise) Heimbecker of Croton, Jerry Heimbecker of Trufant, Katie (Lawrence) Vander Zee of Cutlerville, Matthew Heimbecker of Trufant, Shawn (Julie) McKim of Jacksonville FL, Jackie (Kevin) Underwood of Lowell, Brad Austin of Cedar Springs, great grandchildren, Brett, Breanna, Timothy, Zachary, Jacob, Joshua, Jennie, Lauren and Jaxson, her brother in laws, Fred Paepke of Lakeview and Daniel Paepke of Pierson and sister in law Beulah Dann of Pierson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at 11 AM from St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Trufant with burial in the Spring at Pierson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice or St. Thomas Church.
