1924 - 2010
 Geraldine " Gerry" (Wolverton) Sutphen, age 85, longtime resident of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Metron of Belding. She was born September 25, 1924 in North Muskegon, the daughter of Fay and Mildred (Woodhouse) Wolverton-Arntz. Her family moved to Greenville in the early 1930's, and Gerry graduated from Greenville High School in 1944. She was also a graduate of the Grand Rapids School of Cosmetology and was the owner of Gerry's Beauty Shop for many years. On August 30, 1947, she married Richard E. Sutphen. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Robert, Charles, and Russell Wolverton. She is survived by her children, Cynthia "Cindi" Sutphen of Kentwood and Richard "Ed" and Geneese Sutphen of Greenville; her grandchildren, Allison Sutphen-Phan and John Phan of Wyoming, Jason and Kathryn Sutphen of Caledonia, and Mellisa Missy Sutphen of Greenville; and her great-grandchildren, Sydney and Aidan Phan. Honoring her wishes, cremation will take place and private family graveside services will be held in the spring at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorial contributions in Gerry's honor may be given to a charity of one's choice. |
