
John Bruce Hopkins age 79 of Greenville died Monday April 19, 2010 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus Grand Rapids. He was born in Greenville on January 10 1931 the son of Floyd M. and Alice Bauman Hopkins. He was a 41 year employee of General Motors Grand Rapids as a tool and die maker. He married Judith Ann Denny in Greenville on Nov 1, 1957. He attended Spencer Mills Church, was a lifetime resident of Eureka township and was the former supervisor of Eureka Township, a hobby farmer, former stock car racer and enjoyed reading especially in his retirement.
His sons, Johnnie and Douglas, his parents, brothers Donald , Roger and Marshall all preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Judy their sons Steve and Kitty Hopkins and Terry and Brenda Hopkins all of Greenville, his grandchildren, Tamara (Chris) Larsen, Joshua Hopkins and Holly Athey , great-grandchildren, Hunter Athey and Emma Larsen, sisters-in law and brothers in law, Joyce (Oliver) Bolter, Kathryn Dewitt, Marion Maurer and Robert (Vivian) Denny and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Thursday April 22, 2010 at 11 AM at Spencer Mills Church with Rev. Alan Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be at the Church on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the food pantry of Spencer Mills church.
