Edsel V. Allen age 85 of Dickerson Lake, Stanton died at his home on Monday July 12, 2010. He was born in Pine Township Montcalm County the son of George and Mary Fitzner Allen. He retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Co (WCI) with 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II and a former member of the Hugh Pontius VFW Post of Lakeview. He enjoyed hunting and fishing always wanting the biggest rack or largest fish.
He was married to Ruth A. Kortes on February 11, 1950 and with 56 years of marriage she passed away on February 2, 2006. Also preceding him in death were his brother, George Allen Jr. and sisters, Darlene Steele and Doris Kurnat Ward.
He is survived by their children; Rickey and Janice Allen and Harold and Leesha Allen all of Lakeview and Jeannie Eldred of Florida, grandchildren; Candy Cole, Sally Cole, Rhonda Drews, Rickey Allen Jr. Bobbie Jean Jones, Colleen Allen, Jared Allen and Amanda Allen Wood and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be with the family at Riverside Cemetery, Langston. Memorial contributions may be given to Mid-Michigan Home Care Hospice.
